Dawson’s Creek on Five Life

This TV review was written 3 years, 8 months ago.

Dawson's Creek main cast membersChannel five’s new station ‘Five Life’ (Digital Channel 36) have recently been working their way through showing the entire 6 seasons of the popular teen drama Dawson’s Creek. This is great news for younger viewers as they will no longer have to spend their money on the DVD box sets to experience the series responsible for creating a whole new generation of Hollywood stars.

The show is set in the fictional town of Capeside where the two main characters Dawson and Joey spend their teenage years. Along with a group of close friends they learn to experience the ups and downs of life, love and friendship.

Through the six hugely successful seasons we see them change from naﶥ children to your average group of American teenagers facing some tough decisions and taking on college life.

The series itself is created by the brilliant Kevin Williamson who also brought you films such as ‘Cursed’, ‘Scream 3′ and ‘The Faculty’. His mix of humour, realism and drama always prove to be a winning formula and this series really does reflect that.

Dawson’s Creek is the series that launched the careers of virtually all of the teen stars appearing on the show such as James Van Der Beek, Joshua Jackson, Michelle Williams and of course Katie Holmes (Now famously married to mega star Tom Cruise).

Whilst some of the earlier episodes of Dawson’s Creek are admittedly a little dated, they would still appeal to a wide audience and with an explosive and touching final episode to look forward to it is well worth watching them all. If you have teenage kids, or enjoy teen drama filled with angst this is the series for you!

If you use Freeview, you may need to re-scan for the Five Life channel on your digital box, digital TV recorder or digital TV. Some models scan automatically, but others expect you to do this manually.

I am thoroughly disgusted that Five Life have decided not to show the final ten episodes of the final series. Two more weeks is all that it would have taken….but oh know…it has to replaced NOW for some stupid programme called Neighbours which is already being repeated during the day at other times on both Five and FiveLife. Where the logic is - we the public will never know. Don’t expect me to watch Five or Five Life again….no matter what!!

i am also furious that dawson’s creek has been cut without any warning or anything. from watching the programme last night, at the end there was a lovely announcement that neighbours was coming to five life next week - no mention ATALL that they have axed my favourite show just as it was a few episode from finishing. There was no apoligy or anything. very disappointed and i also will now not support five or any of its other crap programmes.
From a very angry fan who is now left not knowing who joey ends up with. that doesn’t mean that i want emails now telling, i will just live with the thought that five has ruined my dawsons creek story. thanks rubbish five.

I agree with the last 2 comments and more, why has Dawsons Creek been taken off and is it coming back so we can see the ending……….. again no mention of this after last nights episode, its ridiculous!!!!!! there are a few of us who have been watching and are very disappointed in you Five…….. and I think my friends and I agree with last notes, probably will not watch Fiv again, what a shame and what are you going to do about it??????

I also am very dissapointed that Dawsons Creek has been taken off half through the sixth series. When is it going to continue?? I have just looked at buying the series only to find it will cost me at least £30, plus another £10 for the season finale!! When will it be back on our screens?

I agree with everyones comments about suddenly ending especially when its so close to the end. Show these last episodes now please Five I have no intention of watching crappy neighbours

I settled down on Friday thinking it must be the final episode of Dawsons Creek Series 6, as Five Life were replacing it with Neighbours. However, was so disappointed when I realised that this was not the case and Five were just cutting the programme with no warning, (not even moving to a different time). I am now in the same position of having to buy series 6 on the internet so that I know what happens to all of the characters. Was already dreading my withdrawal symptoms when Dawson’s finished, but to end it early… shame on you Five.

  9. Janice Says:
    February 11th, 2008 at 3:44 pm

I really can’t believe that Five Life are not showing the final series!!! Why bother showing any at all if you weren’t even intending to show the last series what a crap thing to do???? I have been watching everyday and it has been great. I used to love it and have been enjoying coming home from work & watching it. I hope there are plans for it to return very soon and there is no way I am watching crap Neighbours!

  10. Holly Says:
    February 11th, 2008 at 6:57 pm

Yes, I am furious too. How can FiveLife just axe Dawson’s Creek without even a mention. How dare they lead up up the garden path, it is insulting to us viewers, treating us like crap. Who wants to watch Neighbours ten time a day. It has ruined my weekday evenings. FIX IT soon Five

  11. Emma Says:
    February 11th, 2008 at 8:23 pm

I cant begin to tell you how dissapointed and furious I am also with this nonsense of cutting the last ever series of Dawsons Creek with only a few to go. I unfortunatly missed it first time around and have been really enjoying it every night, well that was until I heard the news about you replacing it for NEIGHBOURS!!!! Without any warning or apology think this is very unprofessional and insulting to us viewers. Hope you can fix this soon

WHEN are you showing the last few episodes of Dawson’s Creek???????

  13. Amina Says:
    February 11th, 2008 at 10:15 pm

OMG this is insane!! how could they take dawson’s creek away from us like that!! i’m furious!! i was looking forward to seeing it through till the end, 10 MORE EPIISODES!! i have been watching it everyday!! i sat down today to watch it at the normal time, unaware that it had been replaced! i mean i knew five life were bringing neighbours to the channel but they never said they were replacing dawsons creek with it!! who even watches crappy neighbours?? really thought it might have been a 1 day thing, seen as though its the 1st day neighbours was on the channel, BUT checked all the tv guides and dawson’s creek is no longer on. Also saw that they are doing the re run of season 1 early in the mornings again (who knows they may even replace that without warning tomorrow morning!) as much as i loved season 1 i really want to see the end of season 6, is that really too much to ask? please put it back five life surely you can’t be that cruel!!

  14. Simon Says:
    February 12th, 2008 at 1:25 pm

We should all email five about taking Dawson off.

I had a response when it was moved from channel 5 to five life, so it’s worth a try.

I was really enjoying Dawsons Creek. Then it was gone!!!
Have 5 decided to sell the series on dvd or something this must be the explanation as anyone who was watching it will now have to find out how it ends one way or the other. It was such a rotten thing to do to your viewers 5. A bit like tearing the last few pages from a great thriller just as you are about to find out who done it. This was very bad PR I hope who ever made the decision not to screen the last few episodes is fired.

  16. Victoria Watson Says:
    February 12th, 2008 at 3:36 pm

Just echoing everyone else here. Myself and a friend have been watching Dawsons from season 1 when it first started on 5 a few months back.
I know that there is probably more to life than a TV show but it would have been nice to have had some warning that the show was suddenly going to end leaving us fans wondering what happens in the last 10 episodes.
I think 5 needs a new PR manager if it wants to keep people watching. Neighbours is on a number of times a day, you didn’t have to cut off Dawsons especially when there were only a few episodes left.
Please DON’T Just suddenly put it back on without warning becuase we won’t have a clue that it’s on. Please EMAIL ALL OF US PERSONALLY TO LET US KNOW THE DATE THAT THE LAST 10 EPISODES WILL BE AIRED!!

I missed the 6th season of Dawson’s Creek the first time round and was looking forward to finally seeing it. I was completely hooked and they go and take it off the air. I’m sure they could have found a way of fitting it in the schedule, maybe a weekend of back to back episodes. Come on five life your viewers deserve better than this!

  18. Steff Says:

Hi, I emailed channel Five to complain about this (taking Dawson’s Creek off ten episodes before it finished), and got quite a pathetic reply back:

“Thank you for your recent enquiry regarding Dawson’s Creek. The 19:00 repeat run of Series 6 on Five Life finished with Episode 14 on 8th February. As this is the third time that we have screened this series of Dawson’s Creek we felt that it was acceptable to remove the repeats for Neighbours, which, being new to the channel, will prove more popular with our viewers. After all, the last series of Dawson’s Creek was made six years ago and it has already been screened numerous times on Channel 4. Scheduling is one of the hardest tasks that modern broadcasters face and essentially it is impossible to please all our viewers at any one time.

We do have the rights to repeat the remaining 10 episodes from Series 6 of Dawson’s Creek but no broadcast dates are scheduled at the moment. We recommend keeping an eye on the television listings magazines or contacting us again later this year when we may have more details.

14 day advance scheduling information for all of Five’s channels is also available on our website at:

    five.tv/tvguide

We are continuing with our morning repeats of earlier episodes (currently from Series 2) continue at 07:15 and 08:00 on Five Life.”

I think more people should write and complain, they obviously don’t care about viewers who are tuning in regularly to watch their shows, the excuse that it was on channel 4 was weak I thought as it’s hardly been repeated like Friends for instance, and am sure there are plenty of people who hadn’t seen the ending and felt duped by them taking it off for Neighbours repeats! I just thought they sounded really rude about it - why bother showing a series for a year if they’re going to cut it off right at the end?! Everyone should write and complain, they deserve to know how rubbish they are!

Thanks for that Steff - well done for getting a response!

I emailed them today and told them how many disgruntled people had been commenting here, but haven’t heard back.

It comes across that they just don’t care about their viewers.

Don’t worry guys - as has been mentioned above, Series 2 is currently being shown at 7.15am and 8.00am week days on Five Life and by my reckoning (assuming that they continue to show two episodes a day every week day) we should be back up to where we left Series 6 by the middle of April. Not sure whether Good Friday and Easter Monday will count as normal week days for Five Life’s schedulers, but I would suggest checking your listings the week after Easter at that time in the morning. “Clean and Sober” was the last episode aired. I’ve put it in my diary!!

I am so pissed off about five axing dawsons creek, had enjoyed it from the days when they wree showing it on normal five. Cant they at least send the fans the tapes of the last 10 shows or something. Its not as if neighbours hadnt been showed twice earlier in the day.

dvd.co.uk are selling the season 6 boxset (including finale episode) for £13.99 including postage. Like all previous comments I was so upset to find FiveLife had stopped DC with no warning (and for something like Neighbours too!) but I figured that that wasn’t too expensive a price to spend and once I have finally found out what happens and who Joey ends up with I shall sell the boxset on ebay and hopefully make some money back!
BTW it arrived within 2 days.

I’ve ben monitoring it and next Thursday’s episode (6 March) at 8.00am will be True Love - the end of series 3, so they are on track as I predicted two weeks ago. I’ll keep checking in every now and then to see where they’re up to.

I think that they should put Dawsons Creek back on the air because I have enjoyed watching them and then they take it off the air. I also think that they should make a movie to where Pacey and Joey get married but use the original actors Katie Holmes and Joshua Jackson this is not fair so I think that they should put it back on tbs at 9 am and also at 10 am so many of us could watch these eposiodes again. No matter how many times it is aired i think that they were all good especially season 3 on up to season 6.

  27. Danigirl Says:
    October 1st, 2008 at 1:16 pm

Oh man ! Have just been reading through all the previous comments and I guess you guys must have seen the final episodes by now as I have been tuning into Five Life - or is it Fiver? for the last 4 weeks and was much delighted when I realised that Dawsons was once again back on my Tv and getting me lost once again in the bittersweet love traiangle of Joey, Pacey & Dawson !

I however was lucky enough that they aired to the end of the episodes, but it only left me wanting more !

So I was in 90’s teen paradise when they started right back from the beginning, .. when Jen pulls up in to the creek in a yellow taxi… and so it goes…

My only dismay, is that they have cut it from 2 episodes to 1 every morning… which annoys me somewhat… particularly as theyve replaced the second one with… yep youve guessed it… FLIPPIN NEIGHBOURS!!!!!
